As a daughter of Maya K’iche’ roots, born of Guatemalan soil, his passing was more than grief—it was a sacred awakening. His spirit didn’t leave me. It returned to the earth, to the ceiba tree, to the mountains and the rivers that hold our people’s stories. Through his passing, I was invited deeper into life—into ceremony, into the remembering of who we are, and who we come from. It cracked something open inside me—a tenderness, a longing, and a sacred invitation to listen more deeply to the whispers of nature. Since becoming an ancestor, his presence has found new ways to reach me—in the hush of the trees, the warmth of the sun on my skin, the rhythm of the earth beneath my feet. He speaks through the wind. He hums through the birdsong. Through Made In Radiance, I have found solace and reconnection. My garden has become a prayer.
